Law (Laura) Steinweg - Visual Artist
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 1999 moved to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I lived until I relocated to Mexico DF, Mexico in 2002, where I lived for 4 years. After a short return to Buenos Aires, I moved to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2007 where I resided for 10 years. I am currently located in Charlotte since mid 2017.
Everywhere I go, I enjoy exploring the local culture and costumes, while building relations with the Latin as well as international communities, taking part in social, educational, artistic, and charitable activities and events.
I feel blessed for the opportunity I had of traveling to many places and knowing different cultures. This multi-cultural journey helped me to build a unique perspective, and reinforced my respect for the diversity and its value. That amazing experience nourished and inspired me, and I believe that gets reflected in my artwork.
I had being developing my skills since my childhood, taking art lessons and courses, participating in workshops, and experimenting on my own with different mediums and techniques.
My education in arts includes studies of Interior Design, and fine arts in Argentina; painting and art & craft courses and workshops in Brazil and Mexico; five years of live drawing, oil painting with French painter and art teacher Séverine Fain, while her stay in Amsterdam and a drawing and watercolor workshop in Bordeaux, France; also had pottery lessons with Spanish/English pottery artist Dolores Gage, and four years of World Art History with Carien Kanters in The Netherlands at the Vrije Academmie of Amsterdam, where I also took a Dutch History and Europe History courses with Dionijs de Hoog,
My artwork was exposed and sold mainly in The Netherlands, including my participation in several editions of the “Art Wine and Cheese” exhibition at International School of Amsterdam in Amstelveen, in “The Elephant Parade” Amsterdam Edition in 2009, and the Rijks Museum Amsterdam annual contest in 2016.
